Fuel Filter Installation

Recommended Replacement - 30k miles

Replacement Procedure - 78-79

Disconnect Battery Ground strap located behind tool panel (drivers side of the middle)

Removal

Raise rear passenger side of car, support properly, and remove wheel/tire

Remove access panel in passenger side rear wheel well towards front of car.

Loosen nut while holding "inner nut" of the fuel filter and remove lower hose . Catch escaping fuel in suitable container. 

Loosen fuel pump retaining strap ("worm" clamp)

Loosen "lock" nut while holding "inner nut" of the fuel filter and "unscrew" filter from rigid pipe between filter and fuel accumulator. Catch escaping fuel in suitable container. 

Remove filter.

Installation is reverse.

Replacement Procedure - 80-95

Disconnect Battery Ground strap located behind tool panel (drivers side of the middle)

Removal

(See Photos above for reference)

Remove 2 10mm head nuts at top of Fuel Pump/Filter "Access Panel" (located on the middle rear side of fuel tank) and "un-tuck" the access cover from the bottom rear of the fuel tank .

Gently "Pinch" rubber fuel line between pump and fuel tank (use vise grips with an old rubber hose as "insulator")

Loosen 19mm nut on Passenger side hose while holding "inner nut" of the fuel filter with a 19mm wrench. Catch escaping fuel in suitable container. 

Loosen 17mm nut on drivers side hose while holding "inner nut" of the fuel filter with a 19mm wrench. Catch escaping fuel in suitable container. 

Loosen fuel pump retaining strap ("worm" clamp), gently move passenger side hose out of the way and slide filter out towards passenger side to remove.

Installation is reverse.
